system restore is a great tool,
however, it only restore the system files to
a state from an earlier date. It cannot
repair other programs or help with
regular files, pics and docs.
it is unclear as to what problems you
may be actually having. with cindy
there was a functional computer that
crashed probably due to very large files
that overwhelmed the system. so a restore
was the perfect fix..
for other issues sometimes
if you go into safe mode and
see if the problem is not apparent
in safe mode, then it could be narrowed
down as to a possible cause.
but the searchin n searching issue
is usually caused by the "indexing" service.
go to admin tool, services and cycle the
indexing service to disable it or vice versa.
reboot and check out the results.
if this doesn't fix it then you probably
may have a heavely fragmented disk or
other maintenance issues.
2 other useful tools that i would recommend
before taking a deeper analysis of the problems are
systemmechanic program
and the feature found on your windows cd
called windows repair installation.
if you run all of the options in system mechanic
then it will likely find and resolve alot of the
issues that bog down your pc.
if you need to run a repair windows, then the cd
will find any system files that may have
been corrupted or replaced with files
that are incompatiable and replaced them
with the microsoft certified files, drivers, etc...
hope these tips help. :-)
ps: If you would like to open a ticket on
the issues you have or encounter after doing
the above, create a new post so a new thread
specific for you can be opinionized by others......

Hey Cindy,
Could you possibly tell me how to do a system restore? I am having some
problems with being able to upload my photos from my folders to a site or
to
even add as attachments. What seems to happen is that I try to open the
particular folder that has the picture I want and it searches and searches
for the picture itself. Even if I am lucky enough to have it on the
picture I
want to upload, it freezes the computer. I'm hoping that what you did for
your daughter may help me. You can email me at paistyjenny@xxxxxxxxxx
Thanks
Shellie

Thanks for trying to help with my daughter's picture problem. Nothing
worked for her, so when I went to visit I just did a system restore back
to
a few days before her problem started.
She can again send pictures
