I have a desktop PC running XP Home SP2. I also have a Sony digital
camera. To transfer pictures and videos from the camera to my computer, I
use the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard.

I just took a bunch of pics and videos today, and uploaded them to a
folder on my desktop. However, I neglected to give these images the
correct name when the Scanner and Camera Wizard was launched, so now they
are labeled with the title of the previous images I uploaded.

I know how to manually rename a file, one at time. But is there a
way I can select all the new pictures I just took, and give them a
different name, such as 'New School Ceremony?" That way, each file would
be 'New School Ceremony 001, New School Ceremony 002', etc....



I did a Google search and found the solution:

In Windows XP, you can easily rename multiple files at a single go and save
a lot of time. Click Start and click My Pictures or the folder where you
have saved the pictures. Switch the view from the default Filmstrip to
Thumbnails by clicking the Views button on the toolbar. Select all the
pictures you want to rename by highlighting the last picture you want, then
press and hold down the [Shift] key until you include all the pictures that
have to be renamed, ending with the first picture in the list. Right-click
the first picture, and then click Rename. Rename the first picture, and then
click in the white space next to one of the pictures. The pictures are
renamed all at once!
