More likely than not, the printer settings need to be changed. For whatever
reasons, most printers are supplied with defaults that print darker than you
might like.
(I contend that this is to use more ink faster, but who knows!)
The printer drivers usually have a multitude of options that can be used,
including paper type quality, brightness, contrast, saturation, gamma, etc.

Are sources for "standard" test images that can be used to setup your
printer. You make no changes to the reference image, only to the printer
settings.
(Use a renamed copy of the downloaded reference picture file(s) and write
protect the originals.
Color compensation is a fairly complex area to venture into. I'd suggest
that you don't go there at this time.
In order to adjust the display, I'd suggest using a freeware downloadable
program, Monitor Calibration 1.0 from Tramontana

When printing from a Canon I900d photo printer the image is bright on the
LCD and PC monitor however when I print them they are considerably darker
(all prints). Is there a way to print lighter images in the Zoombrowser
software? Or should I use another program ?
