The inability to support certain RAW files is due to the SDK for said file format being released later than DIS 2006 was released to manufacturing.

At this time, no updates have been announced.

BTW, Nikon D50 files have embedded JPEGs, so they are visible in the Library. If you try to open them, you will get an error.
