How about copying something like 10 corrupted files in a new folder and then
running it.

It is a better soluation but ...
I can't select one folder that has 290 files. When I run it, it
creates about 15,000 files before i stoppedit.
Even using the dos assign command doesn't work.

It is not going to be easy.
The easy thing is to recover "deleted" files, but with "corrupted" files
it
is different.
Try the second one and let us know.
