How are you downloading the images?
Can you provide a link to an image that displays the behavior you describe?
Example...go to the following link and allow
the image to fully open. Next...right click the
image and from the menu...choose...Copy...
now go to your desktop and right click your desktop and from the menu choose...Paste.

The image should be the exact size it was before you downloaded it...2592x1944...and
it should be a .jpg.
