is there anyway to automatically set the size of photos
that you download from a digial camera. Ie: When I email
photos the files are always to big unless I go to paint
and INDIVIDUALLY change the size of the photo under
attributes. Is there a setting so that when I upload pics
for camera to computer, they are already set at a sixe of
about 600x800. Thank you

As Michael says...don't lower the quality
of your images by making adjustments
in your camera settings. It's best if you
always use the highest quality settings and resize as needed after the files are downloaded to your hard drive.

If you right click an image file you should
see an option to...Send To / Mail Recipient...
This should open a dialog screen that asks if you would like to resize the images.
Clicking "OK" should open a new e-mail
message with the selected/resized image attached. BTW...this only resizes the attached file...not your original.

If you do not see the resize screen...try the
following:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

Also there's a free Powertoy that is excellent
for creating resized copies for e-mail.

OK, go to the following link and download and install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains images and you will have an option to resize. Just right click the selected image files and choose Resize Pictures from the menu. You can select one image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in the folder with your originals. (Tip: *Never* overwrite your originals)

To insure that images in both portrait and landscape orientation are resized to the
same dimensions...go to...Advanced...
and enter the largest number in both fields.
IOW...for 600x800...enter 800 in both fields.
