I've got a Nikon Coolpix 2500 that connects via usb. (XP====================================
Home SP2.)
First, a few weeks ago we stopped getting the "safely
remove device" icon in the tray. So after downloading
photos we have no choice but to turn off the camera. Till
recently this has not seemed to hurt anything.
Last week we installed a 2nd HD, formatted NTFS and moved
the My Photos folder there. All photos and folders work
fine on both host and networked XP Home pc.
However, _new_ photos downloaded since the HD move will
not open on the networked machine. The old photos still
do, even in the same folder as new ones that won't. Host
machine can copy the photos onto the networked machine
and there the networked machine can use them just fine.
No other software is doing this on the host pc. New files
created with Word for example are opened on the network
just fine.
Networked machine reads new photos as "locked" and says
to use Explore to unlock them.
But using Explore on the host machine, we get no
lock/unlock option in any menus.
We have set the partition as active, and everything else
on the HD works fine to the network.
Any ideas about the locking problem? Could it be related
to the disappearance of the "safely remove hardware"
option?
Thanks for any help
