getting photos from the internet

i cannot figure out why i cant save photos from any sites..the only options
my computer gives me to save im is "bitmap" and "art". I am terrible with
computers but i do know that doesnt seem right..my buddy saves pictures of
cars with the greatest of ease but my brand new computer cant do it!!! can
anyone help????
