cannot open photos!

hi my friend put some pictures from his digital camera on to the shared pictures folder,he had no problem viewing these pictures he then put on some more from the same camera however he now cannot view the ones he put on originally,he can only view the second batch, when he double clicks the image, fax viewer says "no preview available" although the picture is there in thumbnail and he cannot move or copy the file anywhere a box appears with the words "access is denied"!

any advice would be great
