I get "connection interrupted" error msg consistently at certain points in certain sites

At predictable points in certain websites over the last several weeks I receive the following error message when using Firefox 3.0.3:
"Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again."
I get this error message in Internet Explorer at the same points as as where Firefox gives me trouble:
"The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable ..."
As you can see, both Firefox and IE are indicating a network problem, but I have my doubts because of the following:
1) I am using a Netgear router and get the errors consistently at certain points on certain websites when connected either wirelessly or wired.
2) The problem has consistently occurred in Angie's List over the last several weeks at the point where I click to search for businesses such as Electricians or other contractors. What really sucks is last night I was applying for a job and got the message when I clicked to upload my resume (I'm unemployed and can't even apply for work!)
3) IMPORTANTLY: When I clear the Netgear router log of past entries, then click on the Angie's list search button I get the connection interrupted error. Then I refresh the log but, NO NEW LOG ENTRIES appear in the router log. This tells me that my search request is not even reaching my router and thus the problem has something to do with my laptop or OS. FYI: I am using Windows XP Professional (fully patched), Norton 360 version 2.4.0.4 on a two-year-old Sony Vaio laptop using AT&T DSL services.
Additional actions I have taken:
a) Power cycled Netgear & ISP provided DSL modem.
b) Defragged my hard drive
c) Ran CHKDSK and it found no data in bad sectors
d) Ran a disk clean up.
e) Turned off all files in my startup file and rebooted
f) Cleared all cookies
g) Ran updated virus and spyware scans.
h) I found that both my Norton and Microsoft firewalls were ON (don't know how that happened). I turned off my Microsoft firewall.
This one really has me scratching my head. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Alex
