I probably did not word my problem very well. I would like to be able to log in under the user accounts that existed before I repaired the OS. The directories still exist under the documents and settings directory but the account name do not appear on the login screen.
thanks

It would lock up after the logo screen with just mouse pointer, otherwise a black screen. I used a windows XP Pro disk to rebuild the OS. It is up and running, however the old profiles are not available at the logon screen. the directories are still there under the "documents & settings" directory. is there any easy method of resurrecting these profiles short of creating new and copying everything from the old directories?
thanks
