winword.exe file error

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

While in Explorer, word or Excel, when I right click of a file I get a
message that Windows has experienced a problem and ask if I want to notify
Microsoft, which I did and got no reply. When I view details of the error,
reference is made to the winword.exe file. With this problem I cannot delete,
rename or view the properties of a file. How can I fix this problem? Thanks
