Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

My XP Home has become corrupted over time.
I have updated it from SP1 to SP2...via the Windows Update website.

Now Windows Update is saying that it will support only SP2.
I have a legitimate (legal) WindowsXP, SP1.
If I completely re-install of XP, back to SP1, do I lose all rights to use
the Windows Update Site (since I will be using SP1 again)?


(And, is there any way I can preserve the rights that I now have?)
