I am using Windows XP Home Edition and my computer had 256 RAM. I installed
Norton recently and it killed the speed which I was earlier enoying. I added
a 512 stick without removing the 256. I think that is when I started getting
shut down so often. Do you have to pair memory stiks if you use mor than one?
Anyway my problem seems to have gone away.
You can use memory modules of different capacities on most
motherboards without difficulties provided these modules are otherwise
compatible with each other with regard to speed rating etc.
If you are still encountering problems try removing the 256 and
running with just the 512. And do yourself a big favor and ditch
Norton a.s.a.p.
Good luck
