Re: 2gb ram displaying as 256mb ram

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

This is the Specification from the US HP site:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00774581&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3263339&lang=en

Was the computer bought new or second hand?

How many memory sticks are installed / recognised by the system? Do the memory sticks show up as DDR2 667 MHz?

This freeware programme is excellent for getting information about your computer:
Everest Home Edition (freeware)

Tip: To copy select Report, Quick Report, Plain Text, highlight required text, right click and select copy. However, whilst this is fine for posting small amounts of information into newsgroup messages longer reports will irritate other newsgroup subscribers.

Hope this helps.

I recently purchased a HP DV9088EA laptop which came with Media
Center.

Needing XP Pro for work use to be able to connect to a domain I
uninstalled media center and eventually managed to get XP Pro on and
re-installed all given drivers and all drivers from the HP drivers
site for this laptop model.

Noticed that it seems to be running quite slow then realised that in
the my computer properties i have:

Computer:
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU
T5600 @ 1.83 GHz
987 MHz, 256MB of RAM
Physical Address Extension

Obviously, firstly it should have 2GB of RAM and should it not
recognise that this is the Intel Core 2 Duo?

Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Regards
Dave.
