I posted a message here a weeks ago but I think it got lost in the shuffle. I
am reposting in the hopes that someone will be able to help.

1. Is the rest of your system is working fine and the only problem is with
picturer viewing?

When opening any large folder in Windows Explorer it takes the CPU to 100% -
sometimes shuts down but always freezes the computer for 5 - 10 min. Note:
This computer is not connected to the internet and therefore has no
anit-virus software running.

2. What happened when you double-click a picture?

Once the above has completed (CPU usage is back to normal) you can proceed
as usual - everything works fine.

3. Why you think that your computer is not behaving properly while viewing
pictures?

Generally we use Windows Explorer for getting to the pictures we want to
work with. When you click on a folder (any large folder - doesn't have to be
pictures) it locks up the computer so you can't do anything else. It doesn't
seem to matter how many times you have already been in that folder - it locks
up.

Note - This computer is used by a photographer so most of the files on it
are photos.

4. Which Windows version you are using?

Windows XP Version 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr/050301-1519 Service Pack 2.

Note it also says "Physical Memory Available to windows 3,145,072 KB.

5. How much time it takes to open a picture or show the thumbnails?

We set Windows Explorer to simply list the photos because when we had it set
on thumbnails, it took about 2X as long to open the folders as it does now.

I am running 3.5 Gigs of RAM, 512 on the video card, 2 GHZ on the processor
yet Windows runs extremely slow especially when using Windows Explorer to
view pictures.

My tech guy says that this is because the pictures are set to open in Adobe
yet I didn't have this problem on my old PC 512 RAM 1 something GHZ on the
processor. Yes it was slow but not in Windows.
