Hi, it works, thanks. I can see the pagefile now.
Still I have another problem.

For the Virtual Memory panel, if I tick the Custom size en put Initial size
on 2G and Maximum size on 3G (and push then the Set button), the WinXP starts
of with 763 MB after restart, instead of 2G.

If I then load a picture file of 1G, WinXP gradually increases the pagefile
to 1.1G. Why does WinXP after startup not immediate allocate 2G to the
pagefile instead of 763MB???

I think that expanding the pagefile to 1.1G during opening of the 1G picture
file (in Picture and Fax viewer) takes extra time during loading that could
be avoided if WinXpP would've allocated immediately after startup 2G to the
pagefile.

PS: I had it once that when I switched on the virtual memory starting from
'No paging file' to 'Custom size 2G/3G' WinXP immediately allocated a 2G
pagefile to the system. One time it worked well. But after restart the
pagefile fell back to 763M. Strange.

To investigate how you are using hard disk space you need to make sure that
you can see all files. Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View,
Advanced Settings and verify that the box before "Show hidden files and
folders" is checked and "Hide protected operating system files " is

also make certain that the box before "Hide extensions for known file types"

Hi,

I got my paging file set between 2G and 3G (512M RAM). The system has
currently allocated 1.2G and I've been loading a 1G picture file. So the
paging file works (well)!
But, I cannot find the paging file anywhere in the system. I assume it is
called pagefile.sys or pagingfile.sys but those files are nowhere to find,
not on the C drive neither on the D drive. I used Search and looked
everywhere in all folders including invisible folders and files. My
account
name is JOHN (so not 'administrator') but the status of my account is
nonetheless ADMINISTRATOR. So there shouldn't any problem with that.

How is the paging file called?
Are there any other names for the paging file than pagefile.sys or
pagingfile.sys?
