Windows Backup

Can anyone help me?
I am running Win XP Pro Svc Pk 2. The PC is running great, everything else
seems to running OK, but when I try to select the windown backup utility, it
appears to startup but nothing happens except the backup process appears in
the task manager. I've re-booted several times but the problem remains.
