Dwight,
If, as you admit, you are a novice, why the heck do you think you are
capable of fixing anything on your PC? I'm a very good driver but I
take my car to a mechanic (a trained professional) to fix anything I
have the slightest doubt about.
Next time you have a problem with anything, reboot and try it again.
If it still doesn't work GET PROFESSIONAL HELP! Don't try fixing it
yourself, you'll only make it worse - as you've done here.
At this point, there is nothing we can do to help you. Someone who
knows what they are doing has to physically sit down in front of your
PC and diagnose the real problems because your interpretation of the
symptoms isn't helping.
