Hello,

Try Start > Run > type in REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL > OK. See if that fixes
your problem. If not also try the following
Start> Run >
regsvr 32 Softpub.dll
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll

And see if they help. And also try browsing through

I had the same problem recently. Write down the error number you're
getting at the Windows update site then go to
microsoft.public.windowsupdate and see if there are any posts regarding
that number to see if there is a solution posted there. If there isn't
then just post a new topic with your error number in the subject line
and someone will probably be able to help you. My problem had something
to do with an updated Windows Genuine Advantage Tool. Once I
successfully installed that, my updates installed just fine. I'm not
saying that is your problem but it is a possibilty. I had to get
support from Microsoft to resolve the issue, BTW. The nice thing is,
they don't charge for update-related issues. Hope this helps.
