Thank you for your response, It is appreciated : ) but I did as you said....
uninstalled all the java that was there to remove.... downloaded the latest
and installed it........... still the same problem.... ..when I clicked on
the link you gave me for the java........ the automatic download wouldn't
start... it told me,
We encountered an issue while trying to automatically install Java™ software
onto your machine. As a result, Java software was not installed properly.
I'm running Win XP home SP2 and the red x still tells me the same thing
as I posted from the java console previous
