A) NTLDR Problem and Solution
1- Boot with the W xp CD
2- choose "R" to repair
3- From the Repair console answer to the questions:
- On which installation blah blah : choose 1
- Password : enter the admin password
- Destination blah blah C: or whatever : enter Yes
4- Enter this command to reinstall NTLDR :
fixboot
then exit and restart the computer...
This procedure fix the probleme with the NT Loader.
B) Missing data in the partitions ???
Well : frankly I don't know. It's seems that the user instead of killing
the task (here Outlook...), power down W xp like peoples with
DOS or pre-NT systems...
And a bad shutdown will corrupt the W registry...
Here for example:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B822705&x=10&y=12
You can try to *repair* W xp files with the CD that way :
Boot from the W xp CD and do like if you make a new installation...
Don't use the option "R" (repair) at this moment...!!!
Later the W xp installator will find the XP already installed :
There you choose to repair it.
C) Explain to the user how to kill a task with the Task Manager
and the importance of correct shutdown procedure...
Tell me if those procedures fixed the problem.
:)
