C Drive Low on Memory

Hi,

I make it a point to delete unwanted files in my laptop's C Drive every now
and then. I run disk defrag regularly. However I have noticed that the
available memory in my C Drive decreses steadily. Within 2 weeks it has
dropped from 30% free space to 19% now. I dont understand why.

I have no major problems, it 's just that I take steps to ensure that I have
sufficient available memory in my memory constrained laptop. Please advise
what I can do to check what are the files that seem to be increasing in size?
Does compressing C drive help? If I do compress the C drive will the overall
performance be affected in anyway?

My O/S is XP Pro (SP) 1. I have Norton AntiVirus in C Drive. The Webroot
Spysweeper and WinGuide's Registry Cleaner are installed in D Drive. I use
them to maintain my system as well.
