Try running System File Checker to see if it can replace any corrupt system
files.
>From Windows pop your Windows XP into the drive and close the screen that
opens.
Go to Start->Run and type SFC /SCANNOW and click OK
Let System File Checker run. It may take 10-20 minutes and will show a blue
progress bar. It won't tell you if it found anything or replaced anything.
When finished remove the XP CD and reboot the computer.
