I have XPsp1 home on an Athlon XP 2000+ (A5) running on a ECS L7VMM2
mainboard. During quicktime (6.5.1) playback, the video randomly pauses.
The performance tool (admin tools > performance) shows the system entering
c2 at 100% during these pauses, and the perf tool itself pauses its updates
during this time. The C2 transitions/sec hover about 800 during playback,
dropping to 300-400 during the 'pauses'. Processor hovers between 20-30 with
no peaks outside this range during this time.

Why is my system entering C2 so often, especially during real time
applications like video playback, and how do I control it/prevent it?
