I went to the Windows Update page, and I got the prompt
to "install" Windows Update from Microsoft...I clicked
OK, and then nothing happened...like Windows Update was
unable to load and execute properly (even to check and
see what critical updates have already been
installed)...Repeated attempts to access Windows Update
have also failed...What gives, anyone?

Note: I have recently had problems with my registry,
following a bout with a virus/trojan on my computer. I
fixed the problem by cleaning the system with Norton
AntiVirus, recovering the operating system with the
Windows XP CD, and then restoring a previous system state
to repair damage done to the registry. Now everything
seems to work ok, with some minor exceptions -- this
being one of those exceptions.

Thanks in advance, people!
