Total "Lock ups" when burning or test burning CDs

I haven't burned a CD in a while, but recently downloaded
some new music and wanted to burn a few CD. I have used
Nero 5 and Acoustica 3.01 CDMP3 to burn Cds and have never
really had any problems with either program. I recently
upgraded my Acoustica 3.01(70) before I burned my newest
mp3s and everytime I began to burn or test it would lock
up.

I built this computer myself...and consulted with an
computer person at work and he suggested spyware/adware.
I download SpyBot, Ad-aware 6, and Spy Sweeper and can say
I don not think that the problem is related to this.

This weekend I changed a CPU fan--my AMD was running a
little hot now it is coooool. I also added a 512 (3200)
MB to my 256 (2700) MB memory. I was getting a few blue
screen stop error messages before the new CPU fan and
memory, but no longer get those. But the brun problem
continues.

the Acoustica people thought their new Gear drivers might
had been the problem, so I uninstalled them and use the
other drivers that NERO uses. The problem with the lock
up happen in both NERO and Acoustica, althought I was able
to create a data disk in Nero this past weekend. But the
music burns or even the test burns will lock up to only
out being to push the "reset" button.

I also "Defrag"ed and still prosists.
Any ideas of which way to turn?
