SLOW XP....HELP

I bought an XP Home Edition computer and it was going great, then it started going slow. I was using AOL dail up Internet Access, and it was not working cuz it was slow. So i went and got Cable, now its so slow, start up takes nights and i cant even check my emails online....I know this is sad but to tell you the truth Dail Up is better than the Cable Connection i have right now.

Please help what do i do, my memory is full, i dont know whats wrong...and it shows some error messages at start up.
