Version 5 of Zone Alarm has unfortunately been plagued by problems that
affect a substantial number of users. I understand that Zone Labs either has
the problem fixed or is very close to having it fixed. For now, you may wish
to revert to version 4.5 of ZA or ZAP.
In order to do this successfully, you need to completely uninstall v.5,
using the instructions from Zone Labs' web site. Then you can reinstall 4.5.
