The hd could be formatted but with no OS,or in raw state,it doesnt
matter if it tried and failed youre files are most likely history.You can
boot to xp cd,recovery,press enter for password,at cmd screen type:
DiskPart The condition or state of the hd is shown,type:EXIT when
thru,then at cmd screen type:EXIT Let xp reboot,the reboot to xp cd,
reinstall,new installation,delete partition,create,let xp install.
