When I double click 'My Computer' I get the hourglass for 3-4mins

Call this "a shot in the dark"
Go to My Computer, open C Drive, go to Tools, Folder
Options, View tab and see if the item "Automatically
search for network folders & printers" is on. If so,
uncheck it, Apply, OK.
