Format Not Completing

I have a Maxtor 120 gig Harddrive NTFS that accidentally became RAW when I
scheduled
a Diskkeeper defrag at the same time with a Disk Check on reboot.

I've removed the volume and mad a new volume.
Formatting quick or long in Win XPPro after 100% format is finished, I get
the notice that the disk is not formatted.

I can format G: /FS:NTFS in SAFE Mode ok - but disk management in WinXPPRo
says it's not formatted.

How can I format this disk?
