I don't think my problem is from KB 840374. My problem has been
happening for 3-4 days, and I installed 840374 just yesterday.
It's not hard drive -- when I boot to the other drive, I can use
the C drive to read and write and run programs, all without any
problem.
I've been through all the virtus and bot scans, and nothing turns
up. I don't think it's malware; I practice "safe hex."
It doesn't match up with my application errors. I checked the
log and found errors in explorer, internet explorer, zuma, feeding
frenzy, and family tree maker, as follows:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Faulting application
explorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module
winhlp32.dll, version 1.6.0.0,
feedingfrenzy.exe, version 2.4.2.2, faulting module unknown,
version 0.0.0.0,
explorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module ntdll.dll,
version 5.1.2600.1217,
iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module unknown,
ftw.exe, version 10.0.331.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version
5.1.2600.1106,
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
But the hiccups happen a lot -- and there's only a few
application errors.
????? What to do?????

|For the last week or so, I've been getting the same symptoms as you, always
|accompanied by the above error. The shell seems to restart OK, except that
|it always loses my (user startup) notification area icons.
|
|This seemed to start after I installed KB840374 via Automatic Update.
|
|Anyone know what's wrong?
