Hi

Try the following programs to see if your system has any spyware on it:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

| IF there is anybody out there that is familiar with a
| program named "surebar" could you please send some info
| my way to let me know how to get rid of it. I'm just
| about positive that it's the reason for this >xtra<
| searchbar in my IE on my XP Home. It's listed in "add and
| remove programs" with no input on how many MBs it's
| taking up. I click on it and choose remove and all it
| does is NOTHING. Won't budge at all.
|
| I deleted surebar.dll out of the 'Windows' or
| the 'System32' folder (can't remember which one) before
| the NOTHING took place. I'm also pretty sure that this is
| the reason why I'm getting all of this X-rated popup crap
| almost immediately once I touch the internet and why my
| whole system is so stagnant most of the time.
|
| I run spybot and adaware right after I see the popup
| and Spybot has found about the same 5 things both times
| back to back. Four in the registry and a sysupd.exe file
| in the 'Windows' folder. It can not get rid of the
| sysupd.exe.
| I'm believing now that is the root of the problem and
| what is keeping this rogue program anchored to my system.
|
| ALSO, there is a way to make the xtra searchbar vanish
| from IE, BUT, it always show up again the next time IE is
| opened up. When I rt-click in the open space on the
| menu bar, in the drop down list there is a check next to
| NOTHING. That's right, there is a check, >>Next To
| NOTHING<< a blank space (choice) in the list of options.
| If I uncheck it, the bar dissapears. But like I said,
| when IE is opened up again it's waiting right there.
|
| There's a couple of sites that says to delete some
| registry entries to get rid of sysupd.dll but the entries
| in which the sites refer to are not in my registry.
|
| If there is ANY known help for me what-so-ever, by all
| means ->> please pass it on. THANX N ADVANCE.
