memory doing funny things

The system meter, Rainmeter indicates that my RAM and virtual memory is full at random times, even windows complains about it. This can happen almost anytime and while I'm doing anything. The computer slows down. Why is this happening? is it a virus? The antivirus program says that there are no viruses. please help.
