Hello, John !
I had never heard of that "facility" - but it only allows a choice of Windows versions - and with WIN '95 I got the same result.
...and yet on my DeskTop (also running XP) they work just FINE....
Thanks for responding.

Did you try running it in "compatibility mode"?

Robin Clay had written:Greetings !
I have some old (VERY old !) DOS utilities that I still like to use.
Now they don't work on THIS (laptop) computer, running XP, although they still work on my other (desktop) computer, also running XP !
I get an error message ---------------------------------
[filename] VDD. An installable Virtual Device Driver failed Dll initialization. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
Close Ignore
-----------------------------------
"Ignore" doesn't make it work, either !
I seem to remember there used to be a "Version" line I could put in my AutoExec.Bat or MSDOS.Sys that would force use of a previous version....?
Or is there some other way ?
Regards
Robin
I have never seen the compatibility mode work for anything...
are you running the app using cmd or command?
try "command" probably won't work either, but worth a try anyway
