tabbed browsing is freezing my computer!!!

I had been able to open and use many tabs in IE7 until recently. Now, if I
dare open a second tab, I have to reboot, as everything is frozen;
ALT+CTL+DEl does not work. I run maintenance procedures regularly (twice a
month) and have Symantec Norton Utilities as well.

Though I have had this computer a while, I am really a novice when it comes
to solving problems.
