Sound and System Restore Problems, I think

I used to have sound when visiting websites but not anymore and I can't
figure out why. I have sounds when I play my Media Player and when the
computer is turned on and off but not when I want to watch a video on, say,
YouTube or a the news. I used to have sound when I went to play online poker
at pokerstars.net but not anymore - this all started on Monday. I run
Kaspersky Internet Security daily - I've cleaned my cache - runned Advanced
Windows Care - but still no other sound.
I've run troubleshooter but that's no help - everything appears to be
normal. Also, I thought by doing a systems restore that maybe that would
resolved the problem but I've tried going back 2 weeks and I keep getting a
message that says that it couldn't restore it - nothing else.
Why am I doing wrong or what do I need to do. Please HELP!!!!
