You have no imagination and a distorted historical perspective.

Two computers here. One circa 2000 with no USB port running Windows XP
SP2. Second computer bought Setember 2001 with no USB port, which is not
running Windows XP because I decided it would run slow if upgraded from
Windows 98SE. The lack of a USB port was not a factor considered when I
reviewed the future use of the machine.

The OP is using Windows XP SP2 - I can't imagine ANY computer that
can run XP without a USB port....
