I have Windows XP installed on my Mac which I have been using fine for a few months. Now it starting giving me problems. Everytime I log on to it it keeps restarting after a few seconds or the second I try to start a program. I'm new to Windows XP... can you tell me what to do?

Stop the automatic restarting so you can get "The Blue Screen of Death" which will have a Stop Error on it. Then you can look up the Stop Error at the link below.

Control Panel>System>Advanced>Startup and Recovery>Settings and under System Failure uncheck "Automatically Restart".

You should also try going into Safe Mode to see if the problem continues there. If it doesn't, then something you have running in Regular Mode is causing the problem. It could be a program, process, or bad driver. To get into Safe Mode, you normally repeatedly tap F8 as the machine is starting up. You didn't say whether you are using Boot Camp or Parallels so I'm not sure how this will work for you.

If things work well in Safe Mode, do clean-boot troubleshooting to determine what is causing the issue in Regular Mode.

If there is no problem on the Mac side you know it isn't a hardware issue.
