No, that's not correct. The old free version is (or will soon be) no longer
supported. However
the new AVG 7.5 is still free.

As I said, I stand corrected.
plus Avast found four
Trojans on my computer that AVG never detected. Avast is still free,
and better than AVG.
No two antivirus programs detect exactly the same set of viruses, trojans,
etc. They all mostly overlap, but any single program will detect some
malware that any single other program will miss. None is perfect.
So Avast may have found some Trojans that AVG missed, but AVG undoubtedly is
able to detect other malware that Avast would miss.
All that said, I personally prefer Avast. But they are both good products.
I would agree with that. I was happy with AVG until I thought I
needed to switch because I had mistakenly thought it was soon to
become a paid-for application. So I switched to Avast and it found
those 4 Trojans.
And when I asked my Outlook Express question awhile back, the least
you could have done was direct me to the relatively new (on my server)
Oulook Express group because when I got this new computer in June and
I was subscribing to newsgroups, the only Outlook Express group I
could see was a Chinese one. After I refreshed the new newsgroups in
my newsreader, I finally found the one Malke had referred someone else
to.
So shame on you all for ignoring me then.
