WELCOME SCREEN LOGON

Hi,

I did something but don't know what that has caused me to get the Welcome
screen and then have to click on my user name. I'm the only user of this
computer so would like to bypass.

What follows is the text from an email that seems to address just this issue
although XP was not reinstalled. I have done as it says and left the
password field blank but the Welcome screen is still coming up.

Can anyone help please?

Hi Folks!

[snip]

I've just had Win XP Pro reinstalled (local shop) and I'm
annoyed by the welcome screen demanding that I click my name
before Windows starts. Can I not easily skip this and go
right to Windows?

[snip]

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users of this computer" box, click on the User you want
to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

Good luck
