I connect to the internet through DSL using Internet Explorer. I use Yahoo for email because it is so easy to access and use from anywhere and it is so simple. I have NEVER had any problem with Yahoo in any way-I've used it for years. The PC I had before this one at the same home with the same Yahoo account always worked perfectly.
Do you know what Sonic is for and if it is necessary?
It's the CD burner software provided by Dell. It's free, but you could get other software, or just let Sonic update its Encoder program..
One other thing...when clicking on a website (nfl.com) my PC at home shuts down but at work there is no problem-also no problem on my daughter's PC at home with this website.
There's a Real Player window in the upper right corner of that page. If you don't have RP, that might cause the crash..

If you can help me fix ANY one of these problems I will be so grateful. We have not taken any settings off of default since we got it. We have had anti-virus on it at all times and all scans are clean. THANK YOU for trying to help me.

look at what I sent so I went to the sent folder. When I downloaded the
attachment I only got the option to save, not to open-but it didn't save
either when I tried it. There was no way to open and look at what I sent. I
went to work the next day and went to the exact same sent folder and
downloaded the exact same attachment in the exact same sent email and I got
the option to open just like I should have. So my work PC is fine but this
new one at home has gremlins.
2. The same Dell at home has the switch user option. The shortcuts on the
desktop to take me to places on the internet work just fine (a couple of
websites I use daily so I put them there for fast access). My husband's
shortcuts appear on his desktop but will not work-not one of them-it just
hangs up the PC and we have to do Control-Alt-Delete just to free it up.
3. When I emailed my husband some pictures he got an error saying it was a
bad handle and would not let him open them. I emailed them to myself and on
the same PC with the switch user thing on it-I could open and view just fine.
This is a new PC and I am so upset. My Dell at work never does any of this
crazy stuff. If anyone can help with any of these three things I would be
grateful-maybe they are related somehow. Thanks.
How do you connect to the Internet?
