Because they are the OEM manufacturer and by the terms of being an
OEM, not only do they support the laptop, but the OS and all
applications they've installed. Did you check in their knowledge
base, maybe others have had the same issue and a fix is available
for download on the Dell site, or have you checked and applied any
fixes for your model of laptop from the Dell site? I own several
Dell systems, and everyone of them had 1 or more fixes that were
required to fix "something" from day one when I pulled the PC,
Laptop or Workstation out of the box - i.e. application, OS,
firmware, BIOS/CMOS, etc. Much of the hardware/software from OEM's
are customized by the OEM and such you need to apply the
patches/fixes they supply or take up issues with any application,
hardware or OS supplied by them for that reason. That's a major
reason I by mine OS and application void - put my own retail version
of the OS on, along with purchasing/installing my own additional
hardware and retail versions of applications - that what I can deal
with hardware or software vendor directly when it is their hardware
or software issue.
