Re: my messages not posted

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Thank you for the reply malke.

I use outlook 2003 sp2 to read the newsgroup posts. i am using ms news
server msnews.microsoft.com. I've setup the msnews through nntp server
where i typed msnews.microsoft.com in the NEWS (NNTP) Server field.

How does filtering work in outlook 2003 newsgroups? Thank you.

Yes you are right Antioch. My messages have disappeared in thin air.

I sent a few to the xp help and support group and a few to the general
newsgroup. All on same subject re: system restore. How can one write
to
the moderator or the administrator of msnews.microsoft.com. Is there
an email address to contact her/him Shenan ?

I have always relied on ms newsgroups for answers to my pc's technical
problems and I always get positive and helpful answers. Thank you.

All your posts show up fine here. Now I understand why you made so many
multiple posts, though. And here I thought you were just being
irritating. ;-)

There isn't any moderator, but I don't think writing to them is useful
since quite a few of us who live all over the world have no problem
seeing your many posts.

First, make sure you are using the MS news server and not getting the
groups from your ISP's NNTP server. msnews.microsoft.com is the one I
use.

Second, review your Outlook Express settings. I don't use OE so I can't
help you, but I'm sure it has some sort of filtering capability and you
may have it set to either not download enough messages/headers or are
filtering messages in some other way that isn't correct. For instance,
I have my newsreader set to filter on "Threads with unread". Here are
some links about setting up OE to use as a newsreader, as well as some
links to other newsreaders for Windows:

Also, remember that Usenet posts are propagated to servers all over the
world. Normally, you would see posts you made right away though and
that makes me think that you've got something set wrong in OE.
