Re: Screen resolution reverts back?

Sounds really complicated Malke. My laptop is only 6 months old, it's an
Acer. Do my video card drivers really need updating (not that I know what
one is by the way!). Is there anything a bit more straight forward I could
try? Sorry to be a bit thick, computers really aren't my thing.

I set my desktop display properties screen resolution to 1034 by 768
as the default monitor. Press apply (screen then changes to required
size) then press OK.
When I log on to my computer the next day the screen resolution has
reverted back (really large icons) and multiple monitors rather than
default monitor.

How can I stop it dong this and keep it set at my chosen resolution?

Thanks in advance.

If this is a home computer (and not a work computer that is a member of
a domain per Mr. Zieglar's post), then troubleshooting by:

A. Update your video card drivers. Never get drivers from Windows
Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html - Belarc Advisor
http://www.aumha.org/free.htm - Aida32 (hosted on Jim Eshelman's site)

B. If A. above doesn't work, swap out your video card for a
known-working one. If the problem is solved, discard the original video
card.
