Re: realtek HD audio

thank you. my connections are not exactly in the front but on the left side
of CPU as you look at it. But I heard myservice enginer telling me that this
is only a convneninet method and the rear connections are connected to this.
anyhow conncting to this front side jacks even then I have to check mic
volume in mixer (realtekmanager) and not front mic.

thank you for your instructions regarding the bringing the manager icon into
taskbar.

thanks.

thank your very much. it is very illuminationg

one more problem not for me but for a friend of mine. He has also
realtek.
But he does not have manager icon on the systems bar(I think they call it
notification bar in XP). how to bring it there.

I call it the 'task bar' - if you mean the bar that runs along the very
bottom of the desktop screen.
It loaded there as choice from the original install of the Mobo, when I
had
this comp built.
However you can put a shortcut onto the desktop via START-SETTINGS-CONTROL
PANEL-
In the CP you should find the Realtek Icon which you can drag-and-drop
onto
the desktop. I dont know if you can drag-and-drop it into the taskbar?
Someone else may read this post and say how to put it in the taskbar.

I am also little ignorant on hardware
what is meant by frontmic

Front mic - You mentioned it - I assumed you had front(i.e. on the front
of
your case as opposed to the rear connection) jack type connection for your
mic - I use it

is it standalone mic or the mic attached to headphone.

No - see above - its a way of connecting a mic to the computer and comes
with a headphone plug as well these days - saves having to go round the
back to plug in everytime.

thank you once again

Hello V
No Problem - I fully understand your situation.

I am not an expert on hardware. this is only hand on experience.

"I'm the same."

as explained earlier as long as I use only one sound system in my case
yahoo messsenger the checking of micvolume in mixer stays steady and I
could chat with my son through yahoo instnat messenger. As I do not use
any other system for recording it is ok for me. I dont want to tamper
with the drevers. I shall give your suggestion to my service engineer.
In
my systems tray I have an icon for <realtek HD audio manager.

"Yes - I have the same"

If I click this I get four choice in the popupwindow
soundeffects/mixer/audio i/o/and some demo when for the firt time I was
talking to my son I was heraing his voice as if from a distance in a
ghost
ridden huge hall. then by chance I went into sonnd effect in the audio
manager I find the selection was <concert hall> when I reset it to none
I
could clerly hear my son's voice.

"If you still cant use the front mic jack try this. In that same popup
window(which should show your Mobo makers name)click on the Noise
suppression and Acoustic Echo buttons so they light up-click OK.
Then go into Audio I/O. In line with the word ANALOG you should see a
little spanner, white on blue. Click on that. Click on the box
'Disable
front panel jack detection'. Click OK. Exit the Realtek Manager.
Right click on the Realtek icon on the Taskbar instead of left click.
You get 5 options, one of which is that same manager window.
Select Sound Recorder which should give you a small window Sound-Sound
Recorder. Plug in the mic jack into the front.
Press the red button and start talking - the green line should show your
voice level
Now with me this is where things go unexplained(so far).
I have to wait up to 30 sec before the line shows any movement.
Every time in the past I have tested but only for a few seconds then
stopped thinking the mic is not working, when all the time it just
needed
to sort of warm up!!!!!
If you then hit the stop button, hit rewind then hit play you should
hear
what you said."

any how for the present it is ok for me. I dont expect much help from
the
raltek company. anyhow thanks for your interest. I shall send the
message
to
my service engineer.

Good luck
Antioch
