creating .wav files

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi

First of all apologies if this is posted in the wrong newsgroup I am new to
this forum.

Anyway I wonder if someone can help with this:

What I would like to be able to do is create my own voice .wav files that I
can use to replace for instance the start up tune for windows. I only have
the software that comes with Windows XP pro ( and a microphone).

Do I need other software and if so what would you recommend?

If anyone could provide a step by step guide I would be very grateful.

Many Thanks

Chris
