Much thanks to all especially Jeff Vanguard and Ted.
Usb devices are IR keyboard and mouse printer and scanner and a coulpe of
others I plug in when needed.
The modem is adsl and on board.
Also have a 56K voice data fax moden on board which I have disabled.
My security is grunty and I also use the mx firewall and microsoft anti
spyware which I find as good as any on the market. I am confident the comp
is as clean as I occasionally get my son to scan with his IT companies
system as a check.
You are right about the time that the thing fires up (midnight) so I will
take your advice and disable the "resume By PME" as it is a desktop not a lap
top and see no reason it should be on .
I will also Turn off the "resume by alarm as the time seems to fit with your
comments.
I will let you know if it works tomorrow after midnight.
Here is hoping
cheers
flowers.
